PAST SIMPLE WITH "AGO"
We use this to say how much time has passed when someone or something did the action.
I played football six days ago.

I went to my school two months ago.

I moved to Barranquilla three years ago.

TO/FOR
We use BOTH to talk about the PURPOSE of something, that means that with this we mention why this is useful.
They have the same function
Shoes are used to cover your feet.
Shoes are used for covering your feet.

Tents are used to sleep in a camp
Tents are used for sleeping in a camp.

SAME FUNCTION!

The only difference is the form of the verb!
To = Verb (infinitive form)
For= Verb+ ing
